We covered up the tree on our back wall in our room.  We are going to paint another oak tree all the animals that live in the tree.  We have started with some of the birds we know how to paint!

100th day of school celebration

1/21/2013

On Monday, we celebrated 100 days of school with our friends from the summer.  We read a book about Martin Luther King and wrote a poem about his life.  Then we went into the gym and did 100 exercises which was a lot harder than it seemed!  In the next activity, we got 100 kernels of popcorn and estimated how big of a bunch they would be before and after.  We put our names on scratch paper and put them around the open popcorn popper.  If they landed on our paper, we got to eat them!  Next we had lunch and B.J. shared his collection of 100 songs and we played "Name that Tune."  Dustin joined us with his guitar and played some music for us to dance!  After lunch we played the infamous "Hide and Seek Tag".  It was so much fun running around with so many guests!  Even the parents played!  After lunch and "recess", we went back to the room for 100 seconds of silence.  BJ calculated that would be 1 min and 40 seconds which he timed for us,  Then we estimated how far 100 would steps would take us through the school and counted them out.  We drew pictures of what we thought would look like in 100 years.  Finally, we estimated the height of 100 pennies.  Our stack kept falling so we had to make smaller stacks and add up all the heights!  It was a great day and so much fun to see our old friends!
