We finished the last week of school with many fun filled activities. Tuesday was "W" and we took a walk in the creek at Squire Point and also headed down to fossil gorge and collected tadpoles and frogs for Kobi! Wednesday was "X" for X marks the spot which was a scavenger hunt. Thursday was "Y" for Year End Clearance where we cleaned out our desks and room and "Z" was zip up your bags and go home! We also had water balloons and a picnic on that last day. Check out the photos below from these fun days!

Betsy McElroy, our music teacher, planned for us to put up a music garden from recycled materials. This is a picture of our copper pipe chime. We also have a utensil wind chime, a bowl that sounds like a bell and a tin pie pan that will make noise when it rains or when used as a drum.
For our end of the year potluck this Sunday, we are going to sing a hootenanny while playing our musical garden! If you have any suggestions for additions to our musical garden, let us know! "K" day was originally Kite Day but due to the weather, we changed it to Kari Day! Kari decided what we did all day long with the influence of the students desires. They each wrote and performed persuasive speeches to Kari on the stage and I think she blushed a bit with all the compliments! :) In the end we spent a lot of the day in the gym, we went to Noodles and Company for lunch and made cupcakes for Parker's surprise Birthday celebration. I have collected the persuasive essays and if you are interested in reading them, please let me know. Nicole put up our cuerpo's on the wall and they look awesome! The kids had written all the names in Spanish throughout the weeks and they were used to label the bodies. Nicole really took time thinking about things the students were proud of and highlighted those areas. She also took the words from different students to highlight everyone writing. She put it up on Monday after school and when the kids walked in on Wednesday, they all said, "Wow!" It was very cute and I wish Nicole was here to see how much they appreciated it. Our musical garden is coming together. There were some excellent ideas that we will be able to simply incorporate into our garden. We will need a few things (stainless steel bowl and metal piping) that Ericka is advertising on free cycle for. Next week we will start to plan out how to create it and then the following week, Betsy is going to come out to the school on Thursday May 16th to create the garden. We will all be able to enjoy it for the pot luck. We started brainstorming what we would like for our play space since Backyard Abundance will be out here May 30th to do a consult. I pulled out our list we made last year and we added to it. Our highlighted items are: Tree house, sand, apple trees, zip line, tree stump maze, fallen tree, outdoor stage, tic-tack-toe or chess board, sundial, fire pit, BBQ, water trench and a kid car wash. I have updated our donation page to include playground 2013 project to see if we can get any donations for this project. We will also need labor help when it comes time to implement. If you can make it on May 30th, let me know! |
